Public Service Events

Orange County Communications Auxiliary participates in public service events where communications are needed. Some of the events we've provided communications to are:

• Rotary Club Air Show at the Orlando Executive Airport
• March of Dimes Walkathon
• Multiple Sclerosis 150
• Half-Iron Man Triathlon
• Orlando Christmas Parade

Each of these events allows members to practice communications in a unique setting. Air shows and parades give us experience working in noisy conditions. Bicycle races, triathlons and walkathons provide the opportunity for members to effectively communicate during a health-related emergency. Both these skills are necessary when working in American Red Cross shelters during natural disasters.
